1. Start with the least flexible need
Choose the constraint that cannot be negotiated: a short turnaround, low climbing, a smooth surface, shade, a nearby facility or a group member who may need an easy exit. Distance alone is not a complete accessibility description. A short route can still have steps, rough edges, exposure, heat or a difficult return.
Use the search and distance controls to remove obvious mismatches, but keep at least two candidates. A backup makes the plan more resilient when a road, shuttle, trail segment or facility changes.
